What you will find in this website:

In this website we can find some notions on "Science of Bulding". This is a multidisciplinar science that encloses the Mechanics of structures, Mechanics of Materials and fracture, Fluid mechanics and Mechanics of soil and rock. The website is divided in three sections:

• Science & Technique;
• Professional;
• Articles.

In the first section there are the bases of argument. Starting from the history of the discipline we cross the major theoretical achievements that have allowed the definition of physical models, able to describe the behavior of structures at different stages of their lives. The section concludes with a careful analysis of the construction techniques and the simplified models for the definition of the actions, to be taken into account in the design of any structure and civil infrastructure.

In the second section we give some specifications, based on mandatory regulations, for proper design of more complex civil infrastructure .

Finally, in the third section, we discuss of the contemporary challenges in civil engineering such as running in search of higher performance materials such as the fiber-reinforced concrete.

The site is aimed at all those who, while not having an experience in the field of civil engineering, they want to understand, for the increasingly importance that are taking the sector (consider for example the correlation between civil engineering and environmental disasters) , the project-based mechanisms used by designers today. On the other hand, the site may also be useful to those wishing to explore themes that haven't got to know during the course of their studies.
